PLAYER RATINGS: Tyler Adams shines while Ilan Meslier pulls off several fine stops in Leeds’ win

Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool woes were worsened on Saturday night as Crysencio Summerville’s late winner for Leeds handed the Reds their fourth defeat of the season and their first home loss for 19 months.

The night started in disastrous fashion after Rodrigo pounced on a Joe Gomez mistake, before Mohamed Salah levelled the game.

Leeds keeper Ilan Meslier pulled off several fine saves before Summerville netted in the 89th minute to lift Jesse Marsch‘s side out of the bottom three with a 2-1 win.

So who impressed most in the game and which men disappointed? Sportsmail‘s Ian Whittell is on hand with ratings for both sets of players.

Liverpool (4-1-2-1-2)

Alisson 6: A rare slip – literally – helped Leeds score though it was Gomez’s fault. Quickly recovered and good saves followed from Harrison and Rodrigo.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6: Story of his season; was promising in attack but susceptible in defence. Still, on a day Liverpool were struggling, his attacking contribution was vital.

Joe Gomez 4: Chief culprit in a horrendous opening goal as he did not look up to see where his keeper was. Never recovered. Use of the ball throughout was terrible.

Virgil van Dijk 6: Had plenty of work to do covering for Gomez but defensive organisation, usually his strong point, was poor. Did better against Bamford than Rodrigo.

Andrew Roberston 7: Harrison was a handful for the Scot but he still offered plenty of his usual attacking threat with his cross laying on Salah’s equaliser.

Fabinho 5: Did not use the ball well enough in midfield, with too many errant passes, and earned a dressing down from Klopp at one stage. No surprise he was hooked on the hour.

Harvey Elliott 5: A lightweight performance in midfield from the youngster who did not see enough of the ball to make an impact going forward. Another midfielder brought off on the hour.

Thiago Alcantara 7: Pick of the Liverpool midfield with some important tackles and interceptions when Leeds threatened to exploit gaps at the back. Tried to keep his side moving forward with his usual range of good passes.

Roberto Firmino 6: Played at the top of a midfield diamond, a role which did not quite come off. No questioning his work rate but often found himself taking similar positions to Nunez and snatched at a couple of good late chances.

Darwin Nunez 5: Grafted hard, often dropping deep in search of the ball, but fluffed a great first half chance when played clean through by Alexander-Arnold and repeated it in the second.

Mo Salah 8: Looked sharp. Might have scored inside the opening minute and did soon after. Non-stop movement, from wide to central, made him Liverpool’s greatest threat.

Leeds (4-2-3-1)

Illan Meslier 8: Shaky start, with his role in the Cooper mistake, but showed composure after that and made three very important saves from Nunez and a late header from Firmino.

Rasmus Kristensen 7: Right-back had his hands full defensively, with Nunez and Robertson, but stuck to his task and made the odd attacking contribution.

Robin Koch 6: Important block on Alexander-Arnold and a busy afternoon in which the mobility of Liverpool’s forward line caused him problems.

Liam Cooper 5: Error inside opening minute almost gifted the Reds a goal and in the second half lucky to escape after Salah robbed him and played in Nunez.

Pascal Struijk 7: Covered for Cooper’s mistake with an early goalline clearance, one of many important defensive moments he contributed. Often in the right place to clear trouble.

Tyler Adams 9: Summed up the fighting spirit he and Leeds had to show when he was involved in a first half shoving match with Robertson. Covered every inch of Anfield to snuff out Liverpool’s attacking talent.

Marc Roca 8: Midfielder did well in preventing the Reds from getting a grip in midfield with a performance full of graft. Provided plenty of cover tracking Liverpool runners.

Jack Harrison 6: Lively performance from the winger, including one attack when he ran almost the full length of the field. Poor use of set-pieces, though.

Brenden Aaronson 7: Unlucky to hit the bar with a brilliant effort and involved in many of Leeds’ brightest attacking moments. Set up a good chance for Rodrigo.

Crysencio Summerville 7: Wide in midfield but used more to plug defensive gaps, especially given the threat from Robertson down his wing. Did a sound job even before his spectacular winner.

Rodrigo 7: Won’t score many easier goals but was in the right place at the right time and made the most of the space Liverpool’s defence allowed him. Came off surprisingly early.
