Maxwel Cornet is set to have a medical at West Ham after meeting the Burnley left-back’s £17.5m release clause with boss David Moyes keen to bolster his defence after moving on from Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.
The Ivory Coast international was relegated with the Clarets last year but was still their top scorer with nine goals.
He had already carved a reputation as a reliable and versatile player with Lille, where he played over 250 games before joining Burnley in 2021.

Cornet was a target for Moyes at the start of the transfer window before his pursuit of Kostic. The Frankfurt man has now been deemed too expensive, though, allowing a deal for Cornet to come to fruition.
