David Moyes is looking to strengthen his front line having been light on options last season
Scamacca’s arrival is likely to end West Ham’s interest in Broja unless a late loan option became available.
The forward has scored 16 goals in 41 games for Sassuolo and also enjoyed a recent loan spell at Genoa.
He would provide competition for Michail Antonio and end the Hammers’ long-term search for attacking reinforcements.
Moyes is also waiting to hear if Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic wants to join after they offered £12m for the Serbian.

Talks have progressed in recent days, but personal terms are yet to be agreed.
West Ham also want another left-back while they are also awaiting a specialist’s report on new signing Nayef Aguerd who injured an ankle against Rangers last week amid fears he faces up to three months out.
Moyes has however confirmed that there is no break, but the club are awaiting a further update.
