A mum who ate McDonald’s “at least once a day” during her pregnancy has lost an incredible six stone – thanks to a gruelling military-style workout regime.

Alex Moore, 24, from Adelaide, Australia, gained five-and-a-half stone while pregnant with her daughter Alora, now 20-months-old.

Fed up with her “mum tum” and weighing 13st 3lbs, she decided to get in shape, swapping burgers for protein-rich meals.

Following what she calls a “strict military regime” – which saw her take daily 5am visits to the gym and embark on 6km walks, working out for two-and-a-half hours a day – the mum-of-one managed to shed six stone in nine months.

Despite being in better physical shape than before she had children, Alex says her meals are now bigger than what they were before – but packed with nutritious ingredients.

She found out she was pregnant at the end of 2019 and says midway through her pregnancy she began to eat unhealthily, causing her to pile on the pounds.

“I really stacked on the weight – I was working long hours as a dental nurse and would eat McDonald’s at least once a day,” Alex, a former dental nurse, said.

“I was starting early I’d usually get hash brown, egg and bacon muffin and hot chocolate for breakfast.

“And then for lunch I’d order a Quarter Pounder or Big Mac meal, a chocolate sundae and extra chicken nuggets with mayo.

“My mental health throughout most of my pregnancy was fine, however I did struggle towards the end realising how much weight I had gained and not recognising myself.”

Alex welcomed her daughter in May 2020 – but found herself feeling uncomfortable with her body.

She said: “I didn’t want to go out anywhere to show her off, I just wanted to hide away.

“I felt guilty I’d given birth to a beautiful baby girl but I was so embarrassed about how I looked so never wanted my picture taken with her.

“I constantly heard was ‘your body will never be the same’ and ‘you will always have a mum tum, learn to love it’.

She says her new relationship with food and exercise are “healthy”

“I didn’t want to be like that, so I used it as motivation.”

Alex decided that enough was enough and began to get in shape by hitting the gym and overhauling her diet.

She said: “I worked my a** off at the gym going at 5am every morning and going for 6km walks every day.

“At first I was really strict on my diet. I probably went too hard and developed somewhat of an eating disorder.

“I’ve now worked out a healthy relationship with food and exercise.

“Before I was only eating three small meals a day. Now I have larger meals and snacks.

“I don’t really count macros, or calories. I just try to eat mainly whole foods, regularly.

“I eat three main meals a day and have a snack in the morning which may be a protein bar, protein shake or a bit of fruit.

“In the afternoon I snack on a yoghurt but I try to listen to my body.

“I no longer turn down opportunities to eat out, and enjoy treats without guilt.”

Alongside her healthy diet, Alex decided to ditch cardio and HIIT workouts in favour of weight training in a bid to gain lean muscle.

She has currently shed six stone – and is healthier than ever.

Her impressive weight loss has even let Alex change careers, swapping dental nursing for the glamourous life of an OnlyFans model.

While someone else said: “Yes mama. You look awesome”.

Speaking about how her journey may inspire others, Alex added: “I really want to show other mums what you can achieve when you set goals and are determined enough to achieve them.

“I also want people to know that it’s important not to neglect self-care just because you’re a mother – you’re allowed to treat yourself and do things just for yourself.”
